The Veterans Mental Health Transition, Intervention, and Liaison Service (TILS) is a NHS service designed to support veterans and their families as they transition into civilian life.
TILS recognises that military veterans may struggle to access traditional NHS services after spending time in a military environment. Therefore, they aim to reduce the stigma and difficulties by providing more accessible pathways into services. The service is available as a first point of contact for anyone who has either:
- left the armed forces
- is a Reservist not currently mobilised
- a family member of military personal
- a member of the armed forces currently awaiting discharge.
The service aims to provide a thorough assessment to refer veterans to the service they most need. An outreach therapist, who is trained in mental health and experienced in working with ex-military personnel, will listen to your difficulties and help you try and make sense of them. They can offer advice and support, and work with other services to help get you what you need to get back on track. This could include support with housing, finances and employment as well as mental health.
They operate an open referral system and so people can refer themselves or anyone else by contacting the service directly: Tel: 01482 335 479
