The Sheffield Sling Surgery and Library is a service that helps Sheffield families to carry their children safely and well. The service promotes close contact between baby and carer through the use of slings and/or baby carriers.

At present, the Sheffield Sling Surgery and Library offer:

  • 1:1 tailored and bookable appointments
  • Mini consultations for quick 1:1 help
  • Antenatal evening classes for bumps and newborns under 6 weeks
  • 4th Trimester Service
  • Workshops – these include Multiples Carrying/Back Carrying etc
  • Online virtual community
  • The Sling Spot shop
  • Sling Library Drop in Sessions – run by volunteers (sling wearing parents who have been trained to help others), these sessions run in fortnightly or monthly cycles. The library drop in sessions are a good way to try a sling before buying. They also have a free stretchy hire scheme for babies under 6 weeks. For dates of the library, click here.

The Sheffield Sling Surgery and Library also support the Building Bonds Project for health and social care professionals to refer families in need to them for help.

The Sling Library, its workshops and consultations are all based at The Snug in Sheffield City Centre.

Covid update Nov 2020: Service continue but with measures put in place for safety and less face-to-face contact – details on their dedicated Covid-19 webpage.
