Sheffield SEN & Disability Information, Advice & Support service (SSENDIAS) provides impartial information, advice and support to children and young people (aged 0-25) with special educational needs and/or disabilities, and their parents/carers.
Their aim of is to empower, enable and encourage parents to take an informed and active part in their child’s education and related health and social care matters. They also aim for children and young people to be involved in decisions about their own education and futures.
They can help you with:
- Explaining legal and statutory processes
- National and Local SEN Policies
- Your rights and options
- SEN Support and The Graduated Response
- Education Health and Care (EHC) Needs Assessment
- Exclusion advice
- Complaints procedures
- Mediation and Appeals
- Communication between you and other services
- Advocacy for children, young people and families
In addition to education they cover a range of matters including health, social care, disability benefits and leisure.
They operate across the city and take referrals from parents, carers and young people.
