Sheffield Mind offers a number of different services across the city for people who are experiencing mental health problems as well as for the carers supporting them. Services are available to people who are aged 18 years and over and are living in Sheffield. Click on the heading for each service for more information.
Counselling and Therapy Service. This service offers free counselling and psychotherapy to anyone who is aged 18+ and are registered with a Sheffield GP. They accept self referrals or referrals from other professionals. The service offers:
- One to one counselling/psychotherapy
- One to one Art Therapy
- Art Therapy Group
- Counselling for people aged 50+ who are experiencing social isolation through the Age Better in Sheffield program.
The Counselling and Therapy Service also run:
- A fee paying counselling service called Listening Post
- Keeping Families in Mind – a specialist support service for military families.
Due to high demand, Sheffield Mind often have to close their waiting lists for counselling and therapy so do check their website for up to date information.
Connect 3Â provides a housing focused mental health service for people living in Sheffield, there are three different parts to the service:
- short-term accommodation with specialist support,
- a ‘transitional landlord’ service where clients are supported to manage their tenancy (housing support)
- floating support where clients are visited in their homes.
Listening Line is a service for those aged 50+ who may be anxious, lonely and isolated, especially during, or due to, the current Covid-19 situation. It is there to offer a friendly and empathetic listening ear for half an hour once a week, for emotional support as well as further information on services that may help the individual calling. Springboard Cafes are regular drop-in sessions for people who are ready to begin, or on the road to, recovery. They run at various venues across the city. - Sheffield Mind Wellbeing Centre, 110 Sharrow Lane, Sheffield, S11 8AL. Runs weekly on Wednesdays from 1.00pm-4.00pm.
- Manor Library, Ridgeway Road, Sheffield S12 2SS. Runs fortnightly (approximately) on Mondays from 10.00am-4.00pm
- Chapeltown Scout Hall, Burncross Rd, Sheffield S35 1RX. Runs fortnightly from 10.00am-2.00pm. Check on their website for days running.
- Firvale Community Hub, 27 Page Hall Road, Sheffield, S4 8GU. Women only. Runs monthly from 10.00am-3.00pm. Check on their website for days running.
- Aspiring Communities Together (ACT), Fir Vale Centre, Earl Marshal Road, Sheffield, S4 8LB- Women only. Runs monthly from 10.00am-3.00pm. Check on their website for days running.
- Parson Cross Learning Zone, 320 Wordsworth Avenue, Parson Cross, Sheffield S5 9NL. Runs fortnightly on Fridays from 10.00-15.00.
Support/Social groups currently these are Friendly Fridays, Mankind and Vintage Tea Rooms.
Support and Recovery Service (SRS)Â provides support workers and a budget management service for people in receipt of a Sheffield Health & Social Care budget. The support worker service is also available to pay for privately.
Magpies supports people who experience difficulty with hoarding behaviours. There is also a hoarding support group (which friends and family can attend too). The service is run in partnership with South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue.
The Ripple Effect provides bereavement support for people aged 50+ in Sheffield.
Mankind is an informal support group run by Sheffield Mind for men to meet up and talk.
Get Set to Go. This programme aims to improve the quality of life for anyone with a mental health problem through access to sport and physical activity in the local community.
Training Programmes. Sheffield Mind deliver a range of training sessions designed to introduce people to or develop their understanding of mental health issues.
Volunteer Programmes. There are plenty of different volunteer roles at Sheffield Mind. These include therapists, trustees, group facilitators and general volunteers.
Anger Management courses are run periodically.
