Sheffield Autistic Society is a local charity for autistic people (including Asperger/Aspergers Syndrome), their families and carers. The Society is inclusive and aims to support any individual, of any age, who may be on the Autistic Spectrum. They provide support and information, and campaign for a better world for autistic people.

Please note that the officers of the Sheffield Autistic Society are all volunteers which means they are not able to provide a full telephone service. However, you can leave a message or email them.

Their services include:

Monthly Support Group

The group usually meets on the third Wednesday each month, apart from August and December (check website for variations), 12.30pm – 2.30 pm at the Sheffield Carers Centre, Concept House, 5 Young St, Sheffield S1 4LA. Everyone is welcome to join them for a hot drink and a chat.

Group for Autistic and Aspergers Adults

The group usually meets on the last Thursday each month (check website for variations), 7pm – 9pm at the SHU Charles St Building, Sheffield Hallam University, 133 Charles Street, Sheffield, S1 2ND (situated on the junction of Charles Street and Arundel Street). New members are welcome once they have read the group guidelines.

Summer Playscheme

A playscheme for 8-14 year olds each summer.

Sheffield Autistic Society also coordinate various one-off events and provide information, links and resources are on their website .

Covid update 02/02/21: Most services continue under covid-safe conditions but may be meeting online some of the time. Contact Sheffield Autistic Society directly for the latest information.
