Sexual Health Sheffield is an NHS service offering a range of free and confidential sexual health services to people of all genders in Sheffield. They work to promote safer sex, positive sexual health and well-being choices, alongside preventing the spread of HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).
Their approach affirms peoples’ right to sex which is consensual, mutual, equal, pleasurable and satisfying. They acknowledge the role of political, social, and cultural factors that affect peoples’ sexual health.
Sexual Health Clinics
Sexual Health Sheffield run a sexual health clinic at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
Please note, if you think you have been exposed to HIV and need PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) and are unable to access the sexual health services, go to A&E at the Northern General hospital.
Free services provided at clinics include:
- Testing and treatment of STIs, including Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea
- Hepatitis B testing & vaccination
- Hepatitis C testing
- HIV testing
- Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) for HIV exposure
- Pregnancy tests, information & advice
- Youth clinic (18 and under)
- Pitstop+ – a clinic for men who have sex with men
- Vasectomy services
In addition to medical staff, Health Advisers are available for pre-test and post-test discussion for HIV testing. They can help with complex or stressful situations, or with delivering difficult news.

The Pitstop+ service is a free and confidential weekly drop-in service (no appointment needed) for gay and bisexual men, and men who have sex with men (MSM). Please see the separate directory entry for full information.
Community Outreach Sexual Health Information & STI Screening
Sexual Health Sheffield’s Prevention, Promotion & Outreach Team provide sexual health information and STI screening sessions in a range of community settings. This includes schools, colleges and universities.
Education & Training
Sexual Health Sheffield provides a range of training for professionals. Full details of courses are on the website. They also produce a wide-range of leaflets, posters and other promotional materials, including free resources and educational materials which can be downloaded from the website.
