Relate is a national charity that helps couples, families and individuals to make their relationships work better.

They offer advice, relationship counselling, workshops, mediation, consultations and support and can do this face-to-face, by phone and online. You can book a telephone counselling appointment by phoning the main number 0300 0030396.

You can also access online counselling through their website.

Types of counselling/therapy offered by Relate:

  • Relationship counselling
  • Family counselling
  • Children and young people’s counselling
  • Sex therapy
  • Live web chat
  • Webcam counselling

Relate also offers free relationship counselling for people affected by dementia.

They also have counsellors who have trained with them and work for them under licence, you can find the one(s) nearest to you through the website. These counsellors work in private practices and set their own fees.

They offer a range of workshops that cover topics such as:

  • Moving forward after a divorce or break-up
  • Couples workshop
  • From partners to parents
  • Dealing with challenging people

Relate also have a section on their website to help support those who are struggling with their mental health that is effecting their relationships.

Relate has centres across the UK. Sheffield is covered by Relate South Yorkshire which has a centre in Doncaster. You will normally be expected to pay a fee for counselling at a Relate centre. Some Relate centres offer subsidised counselling sessions and the children and young people’s counselling is often free.

Relate South Yorkshire is open for enquiries between 8am-10pm Monday – Thursday, 8am-6pm Friday, and Saturday 9am-5pm. Please contact 01302 347474 to speak to someone.
