Age UK Sheffield is an independent local organisation which supports older people (aged 50 years and over) in Sheffield, particularly those who are vulnerable or isolated. They work to help older people retain their independence and get the most out of life.

*Covid update 30/12/20: Age UK Sheffield office is closed but they are continuing to deliver all of their services in accordance with their workplace Covid risk assessments (contact them directly for more details)

The service works with people in their own homes, in a variety of group settings around the city, and at Age UK Sheffield’s city centre headquarters. They offer:

  • Information and Advice (free) – Information and advice officers are available on the telephone, Mon to Fri 9am to 4.30pm.  T: 0114 250 2850; E: enquiries@ageuksheffield.org.uk  They also can see people in person in their Sheffield office either by appointment or a drop-in service is available Mon to Thu 10.30 to 3.30pm.   • Independent Living Co-ordination support at home (free) W: www.ageuk.org.uk/sheffield/our-services/ilc
  • Cancer Support Service (free) – If you are living with or beyond cancer, or caring for someone with cancer and need a little extra support. Age UK Sheffield provide a specific Independent Living Coordination service in partnership with Weston Park Charity. W: www.ageuk.org.uk/sheffield/our-services/cancer
  • Events and Activities – various throughout the week detailed on their website.
  • At Home service – this service can provide a one to one practical support assistant (fully Trained and DBS checked).  There is a charge for this service. W: www.ageuk.org.uk/sheffield/our-services/at-home
  • Dementia Wellbeing Centre – open Mon to Fri 10.00-3.30 in Norfolk Park (there is a charge for this service). W: www.ageuk.org.uk/sheffield/our-services/wbc
  • Dementia cafes – There are several dementia cafes run by Age UK Sheffield across the city. They are free to attend and have been created as a safe, welcoming and enjoyable place.  They are for both people who are experiencing some memory loss, or have a diagnosis of mild to moderate dementia, and their family members, carers and friends who may be feeling a little more isolated than others.   • Porter Valley In Touch – The service provides friendship and a link to a good social network which can improve health and wellbeing. It can help older people reconnect with family, friends, neighbours and their community. It is provided in partnership with the Porter Valley Primary Care Network and geographical restrictions apply.
